Boys and Girls Soccer

Approx. Sept 6th- Oct 31

Soccer is available to boys and girls in 7th and 8th grade. Practices and games are held behind Village Elementary School. The student athletes that make the team will have practices 4 or 5 days a week and games two days a week once the season starts. Athletes will need cleats, mouth piece, shin guards, and a water bottle. Students have the option of purchasing their own navy colored athletic socks for $5

Cross Country (Co-ed)

Approx. Sept 6th- Oct 31

Cross Country is open to all students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Students have practice 3 or 4 days a week and a meet once a week. The races are a mile and a half in distance. During practice sessions students will work towards building enough strength and endurance to complete the course. Students that choose to participate in cross country will need to have a pair of running sneakers, athletic clothing, and a water bottle. Athletes of all abilities are welcome on the team. No cuts are made in this sport.

Girls Field Hockey

Approx. Sept 6th- Oct 31

Field Hockey is open to girls in 7th and 8th grade. In some years, 6th graders are invited to participate, depending on roster numbers. Practices are held daily at the middle school with games two days a week once the season starts. Girls choosing to participate in field hockey will need goggles, shin pads, cleats, mouthpiece, a field hockey stick, and a water bottle. Navy blue socks will be available to purchase for $5

Boys and Girls Basketball

Approx. Nov 1st-Jan 31st

Basketball is open to boys and girls in the 7th and 8th grade. Tryouts will take place for 3 days during the first week in November. Not all students who try out will make the team. Athletes playing basketball will need to have basketball sneakers and a water bottle. Practice will be held daily at the York Middle School Gym. Once the season begins, teams will have 2 games per week.

Girls Volleyball

Approx. Feb 1st- March 31

Volleyball is open to girls in 7th and 8th grade. This is a introductory program, designed to teach the fundamentals of the game. All students who sign up can participate. There are no cuts for this program. Practices are daily after school with 5 or 6 matches scheduled throughout the season. Students will need to purchase knee pads for this program and have the options of purchasing a York Volleyball T-shirt for game play.

Wrestling (Co-ed)

Approx. Feb 1st- March 31

Wrestling is open to boys and girls in 6th- 8th grade (5th graders may practice with the team but are not allowed to compete). This is a introductory program, designed to teach the fundamentals of the sport. There are no cuts for this program. Practices take place in the YMS Wrestling room. Athletes are encouraged to purchase their own headgear for the season.

Softball is open to Girls in 7th and 8th grade. Practices are held at the Village Elementary athletic fields. Participants will need to purchase protective gear including mouth guards and gender specific padding and equipment

track and field

Track and Field (Co-ed)

Approx. April 1st- June 5th

Track and Field is open to boys and girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Track events include distance running, short distance sprints, jumping and throwing events. Practice is held daily after school at YMS or the York High School track facility. Students will be able to catch a bus over to the high school on track days. No special equipment is required for this sport.

Baseball is open to boys 7th and 8th grade. Practices are held at Village Elementary athletic fields, 5 days per week. Participants will need to purchase protective gear including mouth guards and gender specific padding and equipment. Hats will also be for sale.
