On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the York High School girls' basketball team in conjunction with YHS alum, Lani Silversides ('01),
and her company Strong Girls United participated in the National Girls and Women in Sports Day. All female athletes (including the visiting team) received a Strong Girls United t-shirt, bracelets, stickers, and temporary tattoos celebrating girls in sports. At halftime, all younger female athletes were invited to participate in a fun game on the basketball court. Everyone involved had a great time (there were even a few rounds of "the wave" happening all around the stands). In addition to the fun atmosphere, all of the proceeds from ticket sales went to supporting other YHS alum Kelsey Cole ('16), Courtney Cole ('14), and Phoebe Slovenski ('21) as they fundraise on behalf of Strong Girls United to run the NYC half marathon in March.
