York Middle School

We enjoyed our annual 7th Grade trip to Camp Merrowvista in NH this week. YMS has been going for over 20 years, so it's a beloved tradition, and an awesome way to start 7th grade. Students had three days of device-free time together, working in advisory groups on team challenge games, communication, and individual challenges such as a hike to a vista, or obstacle courses high up in the air. Merrowvista staff do a great job using our habits of work and learning (HOWL’s) of Respect, Responsibility, and Perseverance as guiding principles for the camp session. Cabin time, song challenges at meals, unstructured free time for games, night time campfire - it’s all a part of the fun and tradition - and we are hoping to see the benefits all year in our 7th grade student community!
