In the days leading up to Thanksgiving members of the YMS 7th and 8th grade Student Council were busy supporting local non-profit organizations in York. The students organized and hosted events at YMS for 7th and 8th grade students to attend outside of the school day for their peers during the months of October and November. One event was a movie night, which they were able to do with the support of YORKWISE who helped to acquire a big movie screen! The other event was a student social where kids could enjoy music, games, and activities with their peers outside of the school day. Funds from these events were donated to the York Community Service Association Food Pantry. The money will help the YCSA Food Pantry supplement the items they need that are not donated. In addition, a group of the 7th and 8th grade student council members took time from their school day to volunteer at the Festival for Fostering Trees. The students spent a few hours setting up and preparing for the event coming up this week. They cleaned, arranged items, and set up at Fosters. The organizers were very appreciative of the kids coming over and the kids had a blast helping out!
