Each year, students from YMS form teams to compete in the Great Maine Book Tournament. Teams read from a list of 15 books selected from the current year’s Maine Student Book Award Nominees and complete a series of Kahoots as they move through the tournament, only advancing to the next round if they get the highest score. In rounds two and three, students compete against other teams from around the state.
This year, YMS made it all the way to the third and final round, something that has only happened once in the six years since the tournament began. I am so proud to announce that 6th graders Harper M, Harper C, Poppy, Liv, Linnea, Tessa, Izzy, and Scarlet beat the teams from Bangor and Damariscotta to win The Great Maine Book Tournament!
